I’m Tyler Kober and on my site, I’ll be giving you actionable things you can do to get more visitors to your website, increase the number on your email list and create compelling stories for your brand on social media. Sounds interesting? Read on.
A little background on myself is I’m 20 years old, a college drop out, and in 2017 I acquired over 50,000 email subscribers. In 2016 that number was closer to 75,000. So how does a college dropout who couldn’t even get through the second semester of school go to starting a blog talking about building your fan base online?
I’ll tell you. I was a freshmen in high school when I started a handful of Instagram and Facebook accounts all revolving around the Japanese car culture. From my freshman year to my junior year, I built those accounts up to a staggering 400,000 combined fans.
I had 400,000 fans related to racing cars yet, I couldn’t even drive. I still laugh when I think about this. Anyways, fast forward to my junior year I was approached by a large online automotive media outlet and made an offer of $6,000 for all of my pages.
This all happened right around the time I was getting my license and I needed money for a car so I would’ve been a fool not to accept. So I sold all 6 of my pages and guess what? Within 6 months they ran all of the accounts into the ground and the network went from gaining over 1,000 fans a day altogether to losing hundreds of fans on a daily basis.
This is where I learned an extremely valuable lesson. Just because a company can run a million dollar news outlet doesn’t mean they can run a 400,000 fan network of social media accounts.
Why? Social media is not a place to broadcast whatever you want. You need to craft compelling stories using social media. You need to have a strategic plan to get you from point A to point B. If you don’t, it’s like trying to drive across the across the country without a map. You’re gonna get lost, REALLY lost.
Anyways, that was a really painful thing for me to witness, here was this amazing community that I put hundreds of hours into building and this company was destroying it. This is when I realized that even some million dollar companies still haven’t figured out how to effectively use social media, and more importantly create a community around your brand that has a life of its own.
That’s what my goal on this blog is. I want to teach you how you can avoid the mistakes this brand made and build and maintain a raving community on social media.
I’m going to show you how to build an engaged community of people surrounding your brand. We’re going to be covering topics mainly on email marketing and social media marketing as these are in my opinion, the most powerful ways to create a community.
Additionally, I’ll be showing you ways you can monetize this community while still keeping them happy and actually make your community happy to hand you over money.
You’re gonna want to subscribe to my email newsletter if the thought of having a raving community for your brand is something you’d like and I’ll show you how to do exactly that utilizing tools like email marketing, Faceboo, Instagram and even platforms like snapchat.
Anyways that’s all for today!
